Overlanding Union Springs to Flagpole Knob
I wanted to see how the Ram would handle some rock crawling and show Quinn how capable his truck (and he) really is. There are three ways to Flagpole Knob and Union Springs is the hardest of the three. I had taken him up one of the easier trails before and I thought this would be a great place to help him gain some more confidence to venture beyond the gravel roads.
We found the trail had grown over quite a lot since the last time I ran it in the Colorado. Now in a full size Ram 1500 with the Alu-Cab Canopy Camper on board it was probably not the best trail to run if we were to avoid pin stripes but we made it through.
Unfortunately our plans to camp at the top were squashed when we found some others had already made their way up the back side and set up camp. That's how overlanding goes some times and you have to adapt. We headed to the south to see if we could find camp before the sun set.
